Juniors Racing
Under 10s racing at WSMTB is a great way to get involved in Mountain Biking.
Although we record the laps each rider completes, the race is not competitive. Most races we have some prizes to hand
out, or vouchers to spend in Lifecycles Penrith, our main supporter. Our youngest riders are from about 3 years old!
Parents can jog around the track to keep an eye on the younger riders.
We will run a mini-enduro for under 10s on a separate track to the adults.
The race generally runs for about 20 minutes, depending on how hot the day is and how tired the kids are looking! We try
to start under 10s at about 8.30AM to be finished well before the adult racing starts. Registration is usually from 8.00AM.
As per club policy under 10s racing is all free of charge. This must make us the only weekend kids activity where you
don't have to pay any memberships or subscriptions.Kids will be issued with a day licence if they are not MTBA members - the cost of this is covered by the club.
We check the track before every race, but this is an open park area, so there is a risk of broken glass or other sharp
litter items around the track. There is always a qualified first aider on site at club events for any scratches or scrapes.
Rider's rules;
. Helmets mandatory at all times whilst on site
. Gloves strongly recommended
. Please pump your tyres up to the correct pressure
. Make sure your brakes are working
. Use good track manners at all times (especially when overtaking lower riders)
Please come along to check out the racing, we usually hold under 10s racing when there is a club round at either Blue Gum or Yarramundi.
Kids of the Quarter
The club committee would like all juniors interested in this to promote themselves by writing a resume of there achievments over the past year.
You can enter by doing one of two things:
1. Send your resume of your achievements to PO Box 490, Springwood 2777
2. Send your resume in an e-mail to president@wsmtb.com
Either way all entries have to be submitted by the 31st May to be eligible.
If you are serious about your riding and would like to go further as you develop your riding, then this is an opportunity to have a go at what it takes to get your self sponsorship.
You don't have to be the best junior rider to qualify just have a go at it and promote yourself.
